Yes — there’s a one-time $40 on boarding fee, which includes your background check.
This covers your criminal background screening, driver setup, profile activation, and on boarding support. We invest in drivers who are ready to take responsibility and build a private ride business — and we ask for that same level of commitment.
There’s no ongoing subscription fee until you’ve completed 3 private rides, and most drivers earn back the startup cost quickly — with average rider payments of $30 or more per trip.
Is this legal in California?
Yes. HUM operates within California’s current legal framework.
